Newly married Amanda Patel of the Pardon Muah blog has recently moved to Florida from Kentucky with her husband, and so naturally the couple were looking for the perfect new rug for their home. Discover Amanda’s tips for styling neutral pieces so they add dimension to your space as she shares why she chose our Carman rug as the foundation for her new living room.
We saw that you’ve just moved into a new home, what has your process been for designing the spaces?
You’re a self-confessed neutral enthusiast, how do you find ways to make your home feel dimensional and stylish vs bland and beige?
I have always been a lover of neutrals - I even keep a particular color palette for my wardrobe. Neutrals, to me, are timeless and easy to style; and I find decorating with varying shades of ivory, cream and tan helps make a space feel stylish yet cohesive. To help add dimension, I love mixing the textures of the fabrics I choose for my furniture and textiles, adding in elements like faux fur blankets, large rugs and lots of layers! What drew you to Enkay’s rugs?
Not only are Enkay’s rugs beautiful, the brand’s mission and story also really resonate with me. My husband and his family are from India, and it is so special to me that the company is rooted in similar cultural ties and that their artisans, especially women, are empowered to work for a fair wage and receive the recognition they deserve for their craft. The fact that your products are handcrafted using responsibly sourced materials is also a huge positive for me, as I know my rug will truly last a lifetime.
What are your favorite features of the rug you chose and why?
I chose the Carman Rug in a 10x14 for our living room. It’s the largest space in our home and I wanted it to feel warm and inviting. Carman has rich wool detailing and an ivory color that blends in perfectly with our floors and furniture. In person, it exceeded my expectations! It is very soft and beautiful in texture.
Beyond interiors, what are some of your rituals when at home?
I work from home so having a space that feels inviting and peaceful is important. I love a slow morning with a cup of matcha and shooting content, playing with the light that comes into our space via our floor to ceiling windows. My husband and I love a cozy 90’s movie night too (You’ve Got Mail is one of our favs!) and thankfully, we now have such a cozy space to enjoy our downtime.
